Sustaining the Legacy.
Gallipoli. Dunkirk. Normandy. Chosin. Khe Sanh. The Gulf War. Fallujah. Ramadi. And Sangin: no battlefield better represents the struggles, triumphs, and tragedies of the twenty-year conflict in Afghanistan. Now the history can be recorded: forces pulled in from Farah; critical support provided from Kandahar; and conflicts in the deserts and farmland from Kajaki to the south beyond Garmsir. We remain committed to public education and awareness of this campaign, to ensure that all those who served are remembered, and to share with future generations the lessons learned from our experience.
Honoring the Fallen.
We memorialize and celebrate those whose lives were lost, and mourn their passing. We also respect the sacrifices made by their families and friends, whose loved ones gave the last full measure of devotion in battle alongside their fellow service members. Maintaining our connections with each other, with Gold Star Families, and with all those who carry painful memories from the twenty years of conflict in Afghanistan fosters camaraderie, reinforces pride, and honors the heroes who fell fighting beside us.
Building Resilience.
Our community is maintained by those who served, for those who served, and buoyed by friends, relatives, and others who value our shared legacy. Carrying that legacy forward after deployment can be a challenging process, but resources for assistance abound, and our network spans the globe. We encourage anyone who seeks assistance to reach out for support.
Keeping Promises.
We serve and support those who served with us: veteran, civilian, or still on active duty, regardless of nationality. All who faced the dangers of Sangin and other districts in the region share a bond. We recognize the sacrifices, and remember the promises made to us and to each other. We work to see those promises kept.
